How much did Romanian companies sell and earn in 2025, and how many people did they employ?

The annual report of the Firmeo Barometer collects the financial statements filed by companies with the tax administration and published by the Ministry of Finance: turnover, profit, losses and employees, by sector and by company size.

2025: 2,587.1 billion lei turnover at 918,231 companies.

In short: 918,231 companies filed financial statements for 2025, with a combined turnover of 2,587.1 billion lei, a combined net profit of 212.2 billion lei and combined losses of 50.4 billion lei. They reported 3,793,462 employees (average number). For the 836,359 companies that also filed for 2024, turnover grew by +7.5%, the net result by +5.5%, and the number of employees changed by −1.1%. The 1,504 companies with at least 250 employees generate 37.3% of total turnover.

Methodology. Source: the dataset “Situații financiare 2025” (Financial statements 2025) and “Situații financiare 2024 actualizat” (Financial statements 2024, updated), published by the Ministry of Finance on data.gov.ro (indicators from the annual financial statements filed with the tax administration). We used the files for economic operators (WEB_UU and WEB_BL_BS_SL), excluding credit institutions, insurers, non-bank financial institutions and NGOs; each CUI is counted only once. We excluded financial statements with impossible data (at least 1,000 employees with turnover below 1 million lei: a single case in 2025). Net result = net profit − net loss. Values are in current lei. The data was downloaded on 19.10.2026; the 2025 dataset may later be updated with late filings.

From the “Situații financiare 2025” (Financial statements 2025) dataset published by the Ministry of Finance on data.gov.ro: indicators extracted from the annual financial statements filed with the tax administration. Firmeo adds up the figures by sector and company size; it does not change them.
