How to send email campaigns to Romanian companies

Legally, with the recipients’ consent, and with emails that reach the inbox

A good email, sent to companies that want to receive it.

The B2B campaigns that bring in customers are not those sent to as many addresses as possible, but those that reach companies that have agreed to receive offers. There, the email gets opened, read and answered.

Fewer addresses, more replies.

In short: in Romania, commercial emails to companies require the recipient’s prior consent (Law 506/2004, Art. 12, including for legal entities). You have two legal options: (1) your own list, with subscribers who have given their consent, sent through an email marketing platform; (2) a campaign sent by Marketing Direct to the companies that have given their explicit consent in the Marketing Direct / Firmeo platform to receive offers. In both cases, every message shows the real sender and an unsubscribe link, and the sending domain is authenticated (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Marketing Direct packages start at 0 lei per month (your own list, up to 1,000 subscribers) and at €78 per month on prepay, with access to the GDPR-compliant database.

Two legal options

The difference is where the addresses come from.

Your own list

Your subscribers, with their consent

  • customers, newsletter subscribers, people who asked you for an offer
  • you send through an email marketing platform
  • on Marketing Direct: from 0 lei/month (up to 1,000 subscribers, 5,000 emails)
Opt-in database

Companies that have agreed to receive offers

  • only companies that have given their explicit consent in the Marketing Direct / Firmeo platform
  • campaign follow-up, detailed reports
  • prepay packages from €78/month, 10,000 emails

Marketing Direct prices are those shown on marketingdirect.biz on 18 October 2026 and include VAT, according to that page. A purchased company list without the recipients’ consent can be used for phone calls or post, not for email; see the GDPR guide.

The campaign, step by step

From list to report.

1

Prepare the list

Only addresses with consent: your own subscriber list or the Marketing Direct opt-in database. Remove addresses that have unsubscribed.

2

Authenticate the domain

SPF, DKIM and DMARC on the sender’s domain. Without them, Gmail and Yahoo send messages to spam or reject them.

3

Write the message

A clear subject line, a single offer, the real sender, the company details and a visible unsubscribe link.

4

Test and send

Check how it looks in Gmail, Outlook and on a phone, then send. You can send in stages, by segment.

5

Measure and clean

Opens, clicks, replies. Remove addresses that no longer exist (bounces) and those who have unsubscribed.

Why consent matters for results too

You reach the inbox. Email providers track how many messages are marked as spam. An opt-in list gets few complaints, so your messages keep reaching their recipients.

You get read. A company that asked for offers opens them. A company that does not know you deletes your message or reports it.

You comply with the law. Commercial emails sent without consent can be fined by ANSPDCP, the Romanian data protection authority. With consent, every campaign is one you can defend.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about email campaigns to companies.

How do I send email campaigns to Romanian companies?

Only to addresses that have given their consent: your own subscriber list, sent through an email marketing platform, or a Marketing Direct campaign to the companies that have given their explicit consent in the Marketing Direct / Firmeo platform. You authenticate the domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and include the real sender and the unsubscribe link in every message.

Do I need consent to send emails to a company?

Yes. Romanian Law 506/2004 (Art. 12) requires prior consent for commercial communications by email, and the rule also applies to legal-entity subscribers. The exception covers only your own customers, for similar products, with the option to unsubscribe in every message.

Can I use a purchased company list for email?

Not for commercial messages, if the recipients have not given their consent. You can use a purchased company list for calls made by a person or for offers by post, and ask for consent to email at the first contact. Details in the GDPR guide for databases.

How much does an email marketing campaign cost?

On Marketing Direct, with your own list: from 0 lei per month (up to 1,000 subscribers and 5,000 emails) to 450 lei per month (up to 50,000 subscribers). On prepay, with access to the GDPR-compliant database: from €78 per month for 10,000 emails. Prices include VAT, according to the Marketing Direct page, on 18 October 2026.

Why do my emails end up in spam?

The most common causes: the domain is not authenticated (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), the list contains addresses without consent that report the messages as spam, or old addresses that no longer exist. Send only to addresses with consent, clean the list after every campaign and include a visible unsubscribe link.

How do I build an opt-in company list for email?

Start from a list of companies selected by criteria, contact them by phone or post and ask for consent to receive offers by email, recording the date and the person. Also add a subscription form to your website. The quick route: a Marketing Direct campaign to companies that have already given their consent.
